- 2022 – (expected date 2025). Development of Multirat Selection and Operation Algorithms for C-ITS, through Optimization and ML Techniques, with support from MEC. Ph.D. student: Emilio Ramos Sorroche. Supervisor: María V. Bueno Delgado. E. Ramos Sorroche is FP researcher (FPU, FPU21/06991, 2022).
- 2023 – (expected date 2026). Development of intelligent algorithms for access technology selection in mobile networks. Ph.D. student: Salvador Pérez Martos. Supervisor: Esteban Egea-López and José Santa Lozano. S. Pérez Martos is a researcher contracted with the Investigo program funded by the PRTR with NextGenerationEU funds.

- 2006 – 2011. Optimization and Planning of WDM Transparent Optical Networks (Cum Laude, European Mention, Quality Mention of the PhD, COIT Best Thesis Award). Ph.D. student: Ramón Aparicio Pardo. Supervisor: Pablo Pavon. Ramón Aparicio completed a post-doc in Orange Labs (2012-2013), then he moved to Telecom Bretagne, now is Associate Professor at the University of Nice (France).
- 2008 – 2012. Optimization of optical interconnection and communication networks (Cum Laude, European Mention, Quality Mention of the PhD). Ph.D. student: María Belén García Manrubia. Supervisor: Pablo Pavon. Belén García is working as a lecturer in Centro ISEN (University of Murcia).
- 2010 – 2014. Development and Evaluation of Analytical Models for Applications and Cross-layer Techniques in Vehicular Networks (Cum Laude, European Mention, FPU). Ph.D. student. Carolina García Costa. Supervisors: Esteban Egea López, Joan García Haro. Carolina is Senior Software Engineer and Manager at Logidyn.
- 2012 – 2016. Proposal for the Design and Deployment of Mobility and Security Services in Vehicular Networks (Cum Laude, European Mention, Quality Mention of the PhD). Ph.D. student: Pedro J. Fernández Ruiz. Supervisors: José Santa, Antonio F. Skarmeta. Pedro is now a senior research fellow in the area of EU projects at University of Murcia.

Supervisors: Pablo Pavón, Victoria Bueno. José Luis Izquierdo was Head of Research at Aire Networks (national network operator) until 2017, and PostDoc at the Group of Optical Communications, Univ. Politécnica Cataluña and now is SDN Architect at Google Network Cluster SRE at Dublin.
